Obituary

Ocala - Thomas J. McDevitt, 81, of Ocala, Florida passed away July 1, 2009 at Tuscany House in Summerfield. Mr. McDevitt retired from Bellsouth in 1978 only to continue working for Scotty's for another 15 years and then retiring from them as well. He continued on working for Lowe's unit his death. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri and moved to Dunnellon in 1978 where he resided until 1999 when he moved to Ocala. He served in the United States Army and was a Catholic by faith. His survivors include his wife of 43 years Patricia McDevitt of Ocala. Three daughters: Suzanne Hanna of Jacksonville, Sharon Tranter of Illinois and Sandy Witze of Missouri and one son Kevin McDevitt of Missouri. Two Stepsons: Randy Benkowich of Washington and David Benkowich of Florida. He is also survived by two brothers: Bill (Ida) McDevitt, John McDevitt and three sisters: Catherine Cunningham, Mary (Bill) Golden and Betty McDevitt, 18 grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a son Bryan McDevitt a stepson Richard Benkowich and by four brothers: Michael, James, Hugh and Peter. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
