Obituary
Dunnellon - Heidemarie Grossmann Wiggins left this earth unexpectedly in her home of 49 years in Dunnellon, FL at the age of 71. Heidemarie Grossman was born on January 23, 1945 in Idar-Oberstein, Germany to Hans Grossman and Erika Maria Grossman. After meeting John Henry Wiggins in Germany while he was stationed near her hometown, she moved to the United States and they were married in Conecuh County, AL on June 27, 1964. They moved to Dunnellon in 1967, raised their family and resided there for the remainder of her life.
Heidemarie is survived by her husband of 52 years, John H. Wiggins; her three daughters, Angela Wiggins Fleming and her husband, Billy Fleming II, Deborah Wiggins Koch and her husband, William Koch and Erika Maria Wiggins; grandchildren, Billy Fleming III, Johnathon Koch and his wife, Felicia Koch, Connor Fleming, Dillon Wiggins, Paige Fleming and Houston Koch; two great-granddaughters, Cheyenne Koch and Willow Riley, all of Dunnellon, FL; sister, Ursula Jahnel of Germany and many other family members and friends.
Well-known to many as 'Oma,' she had a passion for cooking and baking. For many years, after school, her grandchildren would walk with their friends to Oma's house and enjoy her delicious cooking. Oma's cakes always went to the highest bidder at community cake auctions. Much of her happiness in life came from supporting her grandchildren at school and sporting events. For 42 years, she directed the office for the family-owned business, Wiggins Concrete & Masonry. Since their recent retirement, Oma spent her evenings taking walks and greeting many members of the Dunnellon Community with her beloved husband and their dog Bandit. Most afternoons, you could also find Oma in the local gym. Heidemarie Grossman Wiggins impacted many lives and will be missed by all that were lucky enough to have her in their life.
A viewing will be held Friday, June 17, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Robert's Funeral Home in Dunnellon.
