Obituary

t is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the death of Ruben Flores-Casique, 70, who slipped into eternity with his wife Irma by his side in the early morning hours of Wednesday, February 21, 2018, after a valiant battle with cancer. Ruben was born and raised in Guanajuato, MX, where he learned many of his traits as a child being raised on a farm. He left home at the young age of fourteen to begin his many adventures and later on at the age of 23 he met and married his spouse Irma of 47 yrs. in Tijuana MX. Ruben has always been a very generous, kind, giving and humble man who worked very hard for everything he ever had all the way to the end. In 1988, Ruben started working in the horse business. He began working for Mr. Bob Noble among many other trainers and owners whom extended their generosity when he began to learn the trade of horse training and racing business. He later moved his family to Florida and soon after began his passion for training and racing at Calder and Hialeah Race Track in Miami and at Tampa Bay Downs where he had many great races. Ruben was a man of many skills. He was an horse trainer, exercise rider, blacksmith, bull and bronco rider among many to name a few. If only his hands and body could tell his story, it would be of a man who was not afraid to work from sunrise to sunset to provide for his family. He lived everyday doing what he loved most. Ruben loved his family, his many horses and friends. He was a loyal honorable man that was always proud of his culture. Ruben enjoyed his mariachi, corridos, Banda music and a good T-Bone and his weekly carne asada with his grandkids. He will he will be greatly missed by all.

He is preceded in death by his mother Maria Dolores Casique Monroy.

He is survived by his wife, Irma Perez-Flores, Morriston; his Father Gonzalo Flores-Moreno, Guanajuato, MX; his daughters, Miriam(Flores)Guerrero and her husband, Fernando of Reddick, Flor(Flores)Caro and her husband Danny, Dunnellon and Melissa Flores and her husband, Chad Hogan of Newnan, GA; his grandchildren, Julian and Elyssa Caro, James and Samantha Flores and Fernando Guerrero, Jr.; his thirteen brothers and sisters in Florida and In Guanajuato MX. His mother-in-law Victoria Ceballos-Carrera and father-in-law Jose Perez-Torres; his thirteen sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law in San Diego CA and in Tijuana MX whom he considered his siblings.
Ruben's family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, March 2, 2018 from 6-8 PM at the Roberts Funeral Home in Dunnellon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Dunnellon with burial to follow at Dunnellon Memorial Gardens.
