Obituary

Jean McCulloch Ringler, 93, of Dunnellon, FL, passed away unexpectedly on December 22, 2012, after a brief illness. Jean was born November 19, 1919, in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, the fourth of eight children born to Charles E. and Marguerite F. McCulloch.

In 1945, while working for the U.S. Embassy in Paris, France, she met her future husband, Gerald Arthur "Jerry" Ringler, a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps. After the war, she and Jerry were married in Reno, Nevada, in 1946. Together, Jean and Jerry owner and operated several Coast to Coast hardware stores in California and Washington state.

In 1979, they purchased property on the Withlacoochee River in Dunnellon, moving there permanently in 1983. Jean began a second career in real estate in Dunnellon, which she enjoyed well into her eighties. Eventually, six of the McCulloch sisters would live on adjacent properties, creating what was fondly referred to as the "McCulloch Compound."

Jean is pre-deceased by her husband, Jerry. She is survived by her adoring daughters Peggy Berglund and Candace Ringler (husband Joel Hurd) of Portland, OR; grandson Erik Berglund of Portland, OR; granddaughter Bryn Berglund of Los Angeles, CA; sisters Nancy Meyer, Polly Tanzi and Betty Koehler of Dunnellon; and many nieces and nephews.

Jean was a beautiful and gracious woman with a kind ad loving heart. She was loved by all who knew her.

Family will receive friends at a memorial visitation at Roberts Funeral Home of Dunnellon on Saturday, December 29, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Immediately following the visitation, a graveside service will be held at Dunnellon Memorial Gardens. All are welcome.
