Obituary

Hubert Aponte, 87 went home to his heavenly Father on Fathers Day.

He fought a long illness and was strong to the end. He was surrounded by his loving wife, children and grandchildren. He is survived by his beloved wife Katherine of 40 years, his older sister Cecilia Quijano and his 5 children; Lola Davis, Hubert Aponte, Clem Gonzalez, Maria Bowers and Sergio Aponte; his grandchildren Wesley and Gabriela Davis, Jessica and Diana Aponte, Mark and Paul Bowers and Kristy Miro and Jennifer Gonzalez; his great grandchildren Sam and Seyla Miro and his brother in law George Raska; and several nieces and nephews in Colombia. Hubert was born in 1926 in Cachipay, Colombia to Jose Domingo and Guillermina Aponte and was the 2nd of 4 siblings. In 1952, he proudly fought in the Korean War as part of the Colombian Forces engaged in Foreign Operations. Soon after his return from service, he graduated with a Degree in Electronics Engineering from Long Island Brooklyn University. He worked many years in electronics and was always loved and respected by his colleagues. He will be missed by his family and friends who loved him. Visitation will be held at Roberts Funeral Home in Dunnellon on Tuesday, June 17th from 11-12:30 PM with a Funeral Mass to follow at 1:00 PM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Dunnellon. Burial will follow at Dunnellon Memorial Gardens. God Bless You Forever!
